TELEDYNE BROWN RECEIVES RENEWAL OF NUCLEAR CERTIFICATES FROM ASME
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (October 10, 2008) — Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc. (TBE) announced today that the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME ) recently renewed the company’s Nuclear and Pressure Vessel Certificates of Authorization. Only 16 other U.S.-based companies have the same nuclear certifications as Teledyne Brown.
The certificates, also known as N, NPT and U stamps, allow Teledyne Brown to manufacture vessels and various components for nuclear facilities as well as various pressure vessels. In order to receive the renewal, the company underwent an intensive audit by ASME.
“Obtaining and maintaining these certifications requires very extensive and intensive design, manufacturing and quality assurance processes,” said Rex D. Geveden. “This serves as an important business differentiator for Teledyne Brown in the nuclear industry.”
In addition to the ASME certifications, the company also received a renewal of its Certificate of Authorization for use of the “R” symbol for metallic repairs and/or alterations from The National Board of Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspectors.
Teledyne Brown has two manufacturing facilities. One is located on its main campus in Huntsville’s Cummings Research Park and serves the nuclear, aerospace and defense industries. The other is located in nearby Limestone County, AL and is dedicated to manufacturing gas centrifuge service modules for USEC’s American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio.
